Early on June 12th, our newest Hunt sales director, Gregg Weatherby, set out with an eclectic group of retailers, writers, and sportsmen in a Harrier 36 for a fishing excursion. The outing, arranged by Randolph Engineering for their distributor Ball and Buck, was intended to celebrate and showcase the brands’ shared values of manufacturing quality products that are made in America—a philosophy embraced by Hunt Yachts.
The Harrier 36 housed the group of seven perfectly. As Gregg puts it, “Fishing on the Harrier 36 is very comfortable. Roomy and accommodating a large crowd well for the day.” Hunt Yachts are highly customizable to adapt them to the owners intended use. Passionate anglers, the owners of this particular Harrier 36 outfitted their boat with a Simrad Fish Finder. In addition to the electronics, the owners requested Hunt Yachts include rod holders and outriggers during the build process, making fishing trips effortless. Built with a bait well to keep baitfish alive on the way to the fishing grounds, Gregg asserts, “the Harrier 36 is capable of chasing whatever species you want to fish, either inshore or offshore.”
The fishing backgrounds varied onboard, but as a lifelong angler and licensed captain, Gregg led the crew in making the most of their day on the water. Gregg began his career as fishing guide, taking clients around the globe as Founder and Owner of The Saltwater Edge Fly Fishing Company. Due to the extended winter, there were still quite a few striped bass in the bay despite being mid-June and Gregg was determined to find them. After snagging a few pogies for bait, the crew headed towards Mt. Hope Bay in search of stripers. While the weather was relatively tame and the fish were biting close to home, Gregg notes, “On rougher days, the deep-v still gets you wherever you need to go to find the fish and get home again.” Luckily for this group, the day ended on a positive note after catching and releasing a beautiful striped bass.
