C. Raymond Hunt is an iconic figure in yacht design. The man and his designs are featured in recent magazine articles by the editors of Power & Motoryacht, Yachting, and Soundings Trade Only.
Power & Motoryacht recognizes the Hunt Surfhunter 25 as one of the designs that "changed boating forever" ("Game Changers," October 2014, page 110). The editors write "This classic is well known for being dry and stable, and darn pretty."
Ray Hunt himself is profiled in the latest Yachting magazine, in an article entitled "The Crazy Ones," recognizing pioneers in the marine industry. Lauded for his unique ability to create championship designs for both sail and power, and of course for his "greatest innovation" the deep-V hull, the editors note that "Today, his ingenious and unrestricted approach to modern boat design is continued by the ever-creative team at C. Raymond Hunt Associates and Hunt Yachts." (Yachting, December 2014, page 43.)
An announcement in the November issue of Soundings Trade Only gives a nod to the modern-day, hard-working deep-V hull designs by C. Raymond Hunt Associates, Ray's eponymous design firm. The Fort Ripley, a new offshore emergency response boat working in South Carolina, was designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates and is powered with Volvo IPS drives. (Soundings Trade Only, November 2014, page 90.)
"With a Hunt Yacht, you get the same 24/7 performance that our police, military, and harbor pilots depend on from their Hunt-designed boats," says Hunt Yachts president, Peter VanLancker. "This translates to unparalleled comfort, speed, maneuverability, and safety for our customers. Hunt Yachts are a wolf in sheep's clothing."
